Here are a few things I have learned about how to elope or have a destination wedding
ELOPEMENT CAN BE LESS EXPENSIVE THAN A TRADITIONAL WEDDING
Weigh the possibilities–How much does your favorite local venue charge vs. How much does it cost to rent a secluded forest, mountain, or beach? Hmmm. How many guests do you plan to feed at a traditional wedding vs. feeding just you and your spouse and maybe 5 or so guests? How much does it cost to decorate the beach or mountains?
Another money saver–you can wed and honeymoon at the same location, without separate costs. It’s your honeywed, weddingmoon…whatever you choose call it!
You get the idea! While there are a lot of costs that you can omit while planning an elopement or destination wedding, keep in mind that your biggest expense will be travel and lodging. But these costs could still be less expensive!
YES, YOUR FAMILY CAN JOIN YOU – HOW TO ELOPE WITH YOUR FAMILY
While I don’t suggest inviting the whole clan to your elopement, you can still have the intimate wedding of your dreams with 5 or so family and friends. I’m sure they wouldn’t mind attending your wedding while enjoying time off from work and home duties!
CHOOSING YOUR LOCATION
Pick a location that is special to you and speaks of your lifestyle. Are you an adventurous couple? Maybe you should hike to the top of a mountain and exchange vows. Like a more slow paced, relaxing time? No better way to relax than hanging out at the beach.
A traditional wedding is an awesome way to celebrate a marriage but it’s not for everyone and THAT IS OK.
Think big and adventurous, or relaxing! Weigh out your options and really imagine what your wedding day is about. It’s your love story, so make it your own!
