~THE FIRST LOOK~

THE QUESTION : SHOULD I DO A FIRST LOOK AND WHAT IS IT?

The answer : Yes and No.  That helps doesn’t it?!

Brides want their grooms to have a complete meltdown when they see them for the first time. Slobber, tears, wailing, the whole nine.  While I have never personally seen a meltdown to that extent…I have witnessed emotional grooms during the first look and at the aisle reveal.

The first look is becoming a more embraced and loved tradition on the wedding day.  It is a moment that happens before the ceremony when bride and groom see each other privately.  In my photography realm, it usually is 5-10 minutes.  Now, should you do it?

No, because you may want your groom (or your groom may want) to see you in your gown for the first time walking down the aisle.  It’s a more traditional choice.

Yes, because you may want a more private, calm time to see each other before the ceremony and a bonus is you have all your formal pictures (bridal party and family) completed before the ceremony so you are headed straight to the reception without a significant time delay.

Decision is yours!  And by yours I don’t mean your mother or his mother or his sister or your brother.  You get the idea.

I would love to hear your opinion or experience about doing a first look before the ceremony or choosing the traditional route of seeing each other for the first time at the aisle reveal.
